About Marianne
The person behind Flicks — and why I built it.
My passion for marketing began in sales. I started my career while studying business, working as a retail salesperson, and quickly grew into a retail sales manager. That’s when I truly fell in love with marketing — all its angles, strategies, and creative possibilities. My studies and early career focused on both sales and marketing, and I’m so glad I learned early on how deeply connected they are.
Because at the end of the day, the best marketing in the world won’t matter if the sales aren’t there. That’s why I don’t just talk marketing — I understand sales too.
In 2016, I took the leap and started my own agency in Brazil (wow, 10 years ago already!). Soon after, I headed to the United States to complete my MBA in Marketing. While there, I landed not just a degree, but the love of my life — and together we made Alberta, Canada our home in 2020.
Since then, I’ve been even more driven to help small businesses grow and get noticed. Because that’s exactly what I found here in Southern Alberta: incredible local businesses doing amazing work, yet staying almost invisible online. Some had tried social media and given up. Others had spent money on ads that went nowhere. Most simply didn’t have the time or know-how to figure it all out.
That's when Flicks truly came to life.
I’m not a big agency. You won’t find a team of 40 in a downtown Calgary high-rise. I’m a one-woman show based in High River who genuinely cares about community — and who happens to be really good at marketing. I’m supported by an excellent small team: Fabricio, our SEO & Web Development specialist (a great connection I made in the U.S.), and our high-energy local social media experts, Haleigh (from the Millerville area) and Niki (from Vulcan County). And yes — after 10 years in business, we’ve also got a couple of very smart AI teammates, Gary & Viktor, who help us bounce ideas around every day.
Today, you’ll find me in High River raising my little family and helping Southern Alberta businesses grow, connect, and thrive.
